MEAL PLAN → Rather than offer 3 meals per day, every day, our itineraries are designed to include meals only where necessary or where they add to your overall experience. Prices include breakfast throughout; lunch is included on Days 2 to 7, Day 9 and from Day 12 to 14. Dinner is included on Days 1, Day 2 and 14. Extensions are inclusive of breakfast.

NB → The itinerary on this tour is subject to change depending on water levels and road and weather conditions. The tourist infrastructure in parts of Vietnam is not as developed as in other Far East destinations. Transport may be subject to a delay or change and sometimes roads may be bumpy. Due to the number of steps in and around the main attractions, this tour is not suitable for those with walking difficulties. Vegetarian diets cannot be adequately provided for throughout Vietnam. Vietnam celebrates New Year’s Day (Tet) on Feb14 2010. One week either side of these dates domestic travel increases dramatically and transport availability is limited. Many markets, shops and restaurants close although hotels remain open. Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum is closed every Monday to Friday and throughout October to November.

Day 01: Hanoi Arrival (D) - 50km/ 1hour drive
Our tour guide welcomes you and your group at Noi Bai International Airport then transfer to your hotel. Check in your hotel and have some times to relax after a long-haul flight. This evening enjoy an introduction talk to Vietnam’s fascinating past by a local guide and water puppet show before a welcome dinner. O/N in Hanoi
Day 02: Hanoi - Ha Long (B/L/D) - 200km/ 3.5hours drive
After breakfast, we depart directly to the city of Quang ninh and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Halong Bay. Upon arrival enjoy breakfast and see a little of this busy seaport. Continue your journey to Halong Bay and board the traditional junk. Once onboard check into your cabin, enjoy a sumptuous seafood lunch and spend the afternoon cruising past the many limestone peaks and islands that form this picturesque bay. Day 03: Ha Long – Hanoi – Lao Cai (B/L) - 200 + 400km/ 3.5hours drive + 8hours on train
Wake early as the mist rises over the bay, an ideal time to take pictures. Enjoy breakfast and continue your cruise, later return to shore and transfer back to Hanoi.
Our vehicle picks you up at the port then transfer back to Hanoi, en route visit at Dong Trieu Ceramic Village to get some souvenirs handicrafts. Arrive in Hanoi in later afternoon. Dinner followed with short transfer to Hanoi’s railway station for your overnight train journey to the highlands north of Hanoi and the remote hill station of Sapa. Your accommodation is a shared four berth compartment, complete with sleeper beds and crisp linen sheets.
Day 04: Lao Cai – Sa pa (B/L) - 35km/ 1hour drive
Wake early and marvel at the remarkable scenery as you roll into Lao Cai. On arrival transfer to the hotel and enjoy breakfast before exploring this scenic and cultural area. Today visit Sapa’s market to see traders selling their wares, journey to the top of Ham Rong Mountain and marvel at the scenic panorama from this hilltop location. Visit a local village – Cat cat - to gain an insight into the life and culture of these unique hilltribes. Return to your hotel late afternoon and overnight
Day 05: Sa pa – Bac Ha market – Hanoi (B/L) - 110km + 400km/ 4hours drive + 8hours on train
Wake up early in the morning. The pure atmosphere and stunning scenery will help you freshen up.
Check out hotel with all luggages. We will drive to Bac Ha market – opens weekly on Sunday only. Here you can watch and even join trading activities of real hill-tribe people. Luncheon served at local restaurant. Visit Bac Ha village - enjoy a close view of the daily life of ethnic minorities. Transfer to Lao Cai Railway Station for a ride back to Hanoi. Overnight onboard
Day 06: Hanoi - Hue (B/L) - 650km/ 1hour flight
Arrive in Hanoi in early morning, the bus take you to the hotel for checkin if room available. Have breakfast with traditional Vietnamese noodle, free until transfer to airport to Hue.
Arrival in Hue in the morning, take some times for relax then our bus takes you to visit the Imperial Citadel (Dai Noi), the Forbidden Palace to find out the luxurious lives of the Nguyen Kings under the feudal regime. Day 07: Hue - Da Nang - Hoi An (B/L) - 200km/ 4hours drive
After breakfast depart Hue for your journey south crossing the Hai Van Pass. See a little of Danang with a short stop at the Cham Museum and Non Nuoc beach before continuing your journey to Hoi An for two nights at the resort. This afternoon take a walking tour of Hoi An. Visit the local market, Tan Ky old house, the Phuc kien Assembly Hall and the 400 year old Japanese Bridge. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon to explore at your own pace. Day 08: Hoi An (B)
A day at leisure for you to wander the many tailor shops or rise early and join the optional morning cookery class at Red Bridge Cooking School. Begin with a visit to the colourful market to purchase your ingredients followed by a short cruise to the cooking school where a two hour lesson follows. In the late afternoon there is the option of gentle cruise on the Thu Bon River and reward yourself with a delicious dinner with local specialties at one of many friendly restaurants.
Day 09: Hoi An - Da Nang - Nha Trang (B/L) - 50km + 700km/ 1hour drive + 1hour flight
Drive back to Danang this morning for your Vietnam Airlines flight to the beach lined coastal town of Nha Trang where a short visit to the 2nd Century Po Nagar Cham Tower, a sacred Hindu site dating back to the 2nd Century. Overnight in Nha Trang
Day 10 - 11: Nha Trang (B)
A leisurely day. Choose to relax in Nha Trang or take a morning cruise to Mun Island to relax and swim in its beautiful azure waters. Overnight in Nha Trang
Day 12: Nha Trang – Ho Chi Minh City(Saigon) (B/L) - 550km/ 8hours drive
In the morning we wake up early and enjoy romantic sunrise over the sea then we take a driver south ward to Ho Chi Minh City. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City
Day 13: Ho Chi Minh city (B/L) - 8hours touring
An informative full day tour to witness and learn about the past, present and future of this amazing city. Visit Cho Lon, Ho Chi Minh’s Chinatown. Like Chinatowns in other cities, it remains one of the oldest and most mysterious parts of the city and within its streets is the famous Cho Lon market. The highlight for many is the History Museum. This building houses a collection of artifacts detailing over 2000 years of Vietnamese history and helps put present day Ho Chi Minh into historical perspective. Visit the Thien Hau Pagoda, War Remnant’s Museum, Reunification Palace and enjoy photo stops at the Notre Dame Catherdral and Central Post Office. Also visit a traditional lacquer ware workshop. The remainder of the day is free to relax. Overnight in Saigon
Day 14: Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi - Tay Ninh - Ho Chi Minh city (B/L/D) - 300km/4hours drive
This morning we visit Cao Dai, an attempt to create a perfect synthesis of world religions. It is a combination of Christianity, Buddhism , Islam, Confucianism, Hinduism, Geniism, and Taoism . Established in the Southern regions of Vietnam in the early 1920's, the religion was officially codified in 1926. The functioning center of Cao Daism is located in the Tay Ninh province. Cao Dai literally means high tower or palace, a metaphor for the spender of spiritual growth. The central philosophy of Cao Daism pertains to the duty that the faithful perform for themselves, their family, society and the world at large. Much like Confucianism, this element of the Philosophy pertains to how the individual functions within the context of the community. Have some time to watch lunchtime ritual before lunch served at local restaurant.
After lunch, drive back to the famous Vietcong tunnels at Cu Chi. Drive through scenic areas of paddy fields and fruit farms that provide produce to local markets and traders bound for the city and on arrival explore this underground network that was once a hideout and home for scores of Vietnamese insurgents during the Vietnam War. Covering nearly 250km, they were shelter to over 16,000 communist guerillas during the war. Back to Hochiminh city for relax. Enjoy farewell dinner with your fellow passenger. Overnight in Saigon
Day 15: Hochiminh city Departure (B) - 15km/ 30minutes drive
